How it works.
A one-to-one text conversation with someone who shares your language.
A small public beta
The beta has room for 20 active chat participants, including people waiting or reconnecting. It starts with text only, an 18+ age check, moderation, reporting, and blocking. A free place does not guarantee a partner in your language.
If the beta is full, wait for the retry shown on the page. An age check does not reserve a place. Entry or messaging may pause when provider allowances are used up.
Choose how to join.
Join as a guest or sign in with an optional account. Choose your conversation language, read the community guidelines, and complete the bot and age checks. StrangerHop is for adults aged 18 or older.
Your email, profile, and age-check information are not shown to the person you meet.
Meet in a shared language.
We match you with another available person who chose the same language. You may need to wait for someone to join. You can cancel the search at any time.
The language is for matching. Messages are not translated.
Start with hello.
Ask a question, share a small story, or see what the other person has to say. Choose Next to meet someone else, or Leave to end the conversation. There is no obligation to stay.
Leave the conversation before changing your language.
Keep it considerate.
Messages are checked before they reach your partner. If those checks are unavailable, the message is not delivered. Automated moderation can make mistakes, so protect your personal information and leave any conversation that makes you uncomfortable.
Use Report or block in a conversation to take action. Report and leave sends selected delivered messages, plus up to ten nearby messages for context, to private moderator review. Reporting does not block the stranger. Block and leave prevents matching the same pair for 30 days without retaining message evidence.
Blocks follow your account, or apply to your guest visit. They cannot prevent someone returning with a new identity. Moderators can dismiss a report or restrict participation for 24 hours or seven days. Restrictions do not change age verification.
Read the community guidelinesNo history to return to.
Messages are processed for moderation and stored temporarily for delivery and reconnects. They expire within 24 hours of first being accepted and are removed earlier when the conversation ends. Reconnecting or retrying does not restart that clock. If you report a conversation, a separate copy of the selected evidence and nearby context is kept for 30 days for review.
Leaving clears your transcript. Your partner can still copy or screenshot anything they receive.
